I am a carer for my brother who has severe disabilities and is non-verbal.  He needs 100% care.  I also have 2 sons who have mental health issues.  When I first got my brother from social services I was given nothing to inform me of his care needs or what care he had and it was only thanks to Nottinghamshire Health Care NHS Trust at Highbury that helped me and my brother.

But when I had a breakdown myself I found it hard to get support which I ended up being failed by the police just because I suffered for mental health issues.  This made me see the injustices by certain services who are at least paid to look after us.  But social services and the police can make it worse, more so when the courts help out the perpetrators and not the victims of crime.  But as usual it comes down to status, culture and mental health.
